Weapons deployed in Operation Sindoor

May 7, 2025

New Delhi: India used HAMMER and SCALP to hit terror camps in Operation Sindoor, thereby using a suite of high-precision, long-range strike weapons.

• SCALP (Storm Shadow): A long-range, air-launched cruise missile with a range exceeding 250 km, designed for deep-strike missions against fortified infrastructure.

• HAMMER (Highly Agile Modular Munition Extended Range): These precision-guided bombs were used to destroy hardened targets such as bunkers and multi-storey buildings used by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). Depending on altitude, HAMMER can strike targets 50-70 km away.

• Loitering Munitions: Also known as “kamikaze drones”, these drones conducted surveillance, target acquisition, and terminal strikes. They hover over target zones and either autonomously or remotely engage threats.

Key targets struck

The Indian Defence Ministry confirmed that nine terrorist facilities were hit — four in mainland Pakistan and five in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK). No Pakistani military installations were targeted; each site was selected based on confirmed links to banned terrorist outfits.

1. Markaz Subhan Allah, Bahawalpur (JeM): Known as JeM’s ideological and operational headquarters, used for leadership training.

2. Markaz Taiba, Muridke (LeT): A heavily fortified 200-acre compound used for indoctrination, logistics and strategic planning.

3. Markaz Abbas, Kotli (JeM): Served as a base for suicide bomber training and arms distribution in POK.

4. Syedna Bilal & Shawai Nalla camps, Muzaffarabad (JeM & LeT): Infiltration and sleeper cell training facilities.

5. Markaz Ahle Hadith, Barnala (LeT): Functioned as a logistics and support hub for the region.

6. Sarjal, Tehra Kalan (JeM): Pre-infiltration staging point for newly recruited operatives.
