Last rites of city youth who died under mysterious circumstances in Saudi held in city

Mysuru: The last rites of a youth from city, who had died under mysterious circumstances in Saudi Arabia about 85 days ago, was performed at the Muslim Burial Grounds near Tipu Circle here yesterday.

The youth, identified as Shabbir, a resident of Vidyaranyapuram in city had left Mysuru to Saudi Arabia on July 8, 2016, through his relative and an agent Khaleel of Arasikere, who had got him a job of a cab driver in Damam.

But on Mar. 25, 2017, Shabbir was found hanging in his room under mysterious circumstances and his body arrived to Bengaluru on Thursday (July 15) at about 8.40 am and reached Mysuru at about 4 pm.

As the parents of Shabbir had expressed doubts over his death, post-mortem was conducted at Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI) and the body was handed over to the family members.

The body of Shabbir was brought to his residence in an ambulance and was kept there for sometime and later, the last rites were performed as per Muslim traditions at the Muslim Burial Ground near Tipu Circle.

MP Pratap Simha offers condolence, extends help

Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha, who visited the house of Shabbir, offered condolence to the grieving family besides extending financial help.

Speaking on the occasion, the MP said that the death of Shabbir, who had gone to Saudi Arabia to earn and take care of the family had saddened him and added that the it is more saddening for the parents who had taken care of him for 25-30 years and now seeing him dead.

He said that about two months ago, Shabbir’s parents had approached him requesting him to get the body of Shabbir. The MP had assured them of helping them and was in constant touch with the Embassy in Saudi Arabia.

He further said that as there were many procedures to be completed, there was delay in getting the body to Mysuru and added that he would get Shabbir’s sister a job if she likes to work in Dubai or in a private company in the State, wherever she wished.

He later paid his last respects to the body of Shabbir.
