58 Tableaux cast a spell

Mysuru: Nada Habba Mysuru Dasara shone bright with  58 tableaux enhancing the glint of Jumboo Savari that signifies Vijayadashami, following the victory of good over evil, reliving the bygone era of Wadiyars, the former rulers of princely State of Mysore.

From the recent Five Guarantee Schemes of the Government, that have attained popularity to the advancement in various fields and the impetus given by the State and Central Government to reach the beneficiaries to the progress achieved by various departments and the tourist attractions with everlasting imprints of erstwhile rulers from Wadiyars to Kempegowda, prominent kingdoms like Hoysala, Chola, Chalukya to name a few, the tableaux portrayed ‘Integrity in Diversity.’

As the Jumboo Savari began at 1.25 pm, the wheels of tableaux started rolling, moving along with the performing artistes belonging to various cultural troupes. As Jumboo Savari coincided with Gandhi Jayanti, the tableaux representing various districts of the State, aptly showcased the messages propagated by the Father of the Nation.

After Nishaane Aane (elephant symbolising the start of Jumboo Savari) and Saalane (row of elephants), a tableau of KSRTC proudly highlighted the success story of Shakti scheme, which provides free travel facility for women in the State-owned transport corporations buses. The recent feat of reaching 500 crore free ticket milestone was the highlight of the tableau.

The tableau of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) meaning – Runway to Victory – HAL’s Power to Indian Skies, educated the gathering on the technical efficacy behind the making of rockets, helicopters and war planes.

Atma Nirbhar Bharat, which has been the rallying point of  Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), spread the message of being self-reliant in Indian defence sector. The heavy-duty trucks used by armed forces, carrying a rocket was recreated, to the applause of the gathering. The engineering acumen of Indian Railways that caught the attention of the globe, with the recent construction of Chenab and Pamban bridges, was showcased in the tableau.

Bhovis, the hereditary construction workers, who were involved in building Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) Dam over River Cauvery in the year 1917, were the highlight of the tableau belonging to Karnataka Bhovi Development Corporation Limited.

Prominent among other tableaux were; Satyagraha Soudha of Shivapura in Maddur taluk of Mandya district, titled – Swatantrya Horatada Deepa- Shivapurada Dhwaja Satyagraha, Chikkaballapur district’s Jnana- Vignanigala Nadu, Urban Development Department’s ‘Smart City’ concept, along with Indira Canteen, Davangere Railway Station, Pure Drinking Water units and housing units.

Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) in its tableau, emphasised on the scientific collection and disposal of waste, ill-effects of plastic. Dharwad’s National Flag Making Centre, Colourful cradles of Kalaghatagi in Gadag, Rani Channabyradevi – Masale Rani of Uttara Kannada, Koodala Sangama that disseminates the messages propagated by social reformer Basavanna, all in the form of tableaux, were the cynosure of all eyes.

The trekking routes of Kodagu, the ecological conservation along with that of tigers in Chamarajanagar, Gommateshwara and the significance of coffee cultivation in Hassan, were notably among several other tableaux.
