Council polls: Liquor sales banned

Mysore/Mysuru: With the Legislative Council polls for South Teachers Constituency scheduled to take place on June 3, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. K.V. Rajendra, who is also the District Electoral Officer,  has banned sale of liquor across the district from 4 pm on June 1 till midnight of June 3, in order to ensure free and smooth polls.

On account of counting of votes on June 6, the sale of liquor is also banned from 12 midnight on June 5 to 12 midnight on June 6, in city limits and 5-km radius of the city. Accordingly, manufacture, distribution, sale, stocking or transportation of liquor is prohibited during the liquor ban period, according to a press release from Dr. Rajendra.
