Fire at Sewage Farm doused after nine-hour operation

Mysore/Mysuru: Huge mounds of garbage at the Sewage Farm in Vidyaranyapuram, caught fire yesterday morning and was doused by Fire Fighters after a nine-hour-long operation.

Members of the public, who noticed the fire at about 11 am, informed Saraswathipuram Fire Station. Soon, Fire and Emergency Services personnel of Saraswathipuram (16 personnel), Bannimantap (6) and Hebbal Fire Stations (6), who rushed to the spot with five fire tenders, managed to douse the fire after a nine-hour-long operation. 

Water was used 10 times from 4,500-litre capacity tankers, two times each from 9,500-litre capacity tankers and 16,000-litre capacity tankers to extinguish the fire and preventing it from spreading further, according to Fire Station Officer Raju.
