Mysore/Mysuru: A free health check-up camp for teaching and non-teaching staff of University of Mysore (UoM) will be conducted once in six months, said Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, UoM.

He was speaking after inaugurating a health camp organised jointly by University of Mysore, Family Planning Association of India and Community Radio Centre at Department of Zoology here recently.

The VC said COVID-19 pandemic of 2020 taught them the importance of health and it was important for one and all to maintain a good health. Henceforth, a free health check-up camp would be conducted for teaching and non-teaching staff in Manasagangothri campus once in six months. Many of them would not know about any diseases inside the body and it would be known only during health camps. A number of employees have died of cardiac arrest. With latest technology, it was possible to detect any disease at early stage and get treatment accordingly, he added.

Prof. R. Shivappa, Registrar, Prof. S.N. Hegde, former Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Malini, Head, Department of Zoology, Dr. M.S. Swapna, Professor, Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, Dr P.S. Arvind, Dr. Harshhuliyappa, Dr. Shivakumar, H.R. Somanna from Narayana Multi-Speciality Hospital and others were present.
