Mysuru: The Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysuru, is celebrating its 50th Foundation Day on July 17. The inaugural function of the Foundation Day will be held at CIIL Conference Hall tomorrow at 10.30 am and this will mark the beginning of the Golden Jubilee Year.
Prof. Anupam Basu, Director, National Institute of Technology, Durgapur, will be the chief guest. Manimozhi Theodore, Director, Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, DRDO, Bengaluru, will be the guest of honour. Prof. D.G. Rao, Director, CIIL, Mysuru, will preside.
A panel discussion on the topic “Languages at Cross Roads: 2011 Census” based on the recently released language data by Ministry of Home Affairs is arranged at 12 noon. The panelists are Dr. S. Manoharan, former Linguist of Anthropological Survey of India, Kolkata; Dr. Kakali Mukherjee, former Assistant Registrar General (Languages) of India, Kolkata and Prof. Imitiaz Hasnain, Professor of Linguistics, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh.
