Mysore/Mysuru: With an aim to bring down COVID-19 death rate to zero in Krishnaraja (K.R.) Assembly segment, MLA S.A. Ramdas, who represents the Constituency, inaugurated a throat swab collection centre to test for COVID-19, at Makkala Koota premises in Krishnamurthypuram here yesterday.
Speaking on the occasion, Ramdas said that the centre has been opened as some people have been hesitating to visit hospitals despite showing symptoms of the dreaded pandemic.
Maintaining that the centre has been opened to bring down the COVID-19 death rate to zero in a week, he said that he has discussed with the officials the measures to be taken for containing the spread of the pandemic.
Pointing out that K.R. segment has been divided into three zones, he said that each zone will have a test centre at Makkala Koota, Bodyguard Primary Health Centre at Jockey Quarters and at Nachanahallipalya. The people of the Constituency can visit these centres and give their throat swab samples for COVID-19 test, he said.
Announcing that eight medical teams have been formed to conduct household health survey, Ramdas said that the job of these teams is to identify symptomatic and asymptomatic patients at an early stage itself, as a measure to stop the spread of the virus.
Noting that the Constituency will have three Ambulances, one for each zone, he said these ambulances are fitted with oxygen support systems.
The MLA further said that sanitisation, fumigation and disinfection of all the 115 Containment Zones in the Constituency is underway and several teams have been formed to door deliver groceries and other essentials to the residents.
Referring to public movement, Ramdas appealed the people not to venture out on to the streets unnecessarily, as a study has found that the main cause for the spurt is public and vehicular movement. Emphasising on the need for citizens to remain indoors as far as possible, especially the elderly, he said youth must understand that unnecessary movement on streets and markets, will put the elderly members of their family at a health risk.
