Mysore/Mysuru: To ensure smooth conduct of Lok Sabha polls, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. K.V. Rajendra has directed the Mysuru City and Rural Excise Deputy Commissioners to ban sale of liquor from 5 pm on Apr. 24 till Apr. 26 midnight (day of voting) and from the midnight of June 3 till June 4 midnight (day of counting of votes).
The DC has directed the Excise Deputy Commissioners to close down all liquor outlets in Mysuru city limits and in 5 kms from city limits and also ban selling, transporting and storing of liquor besides declaring the above dates as dry days.
The Excise Deputy Commissioners have also been directed to seal all liquor outlets, liquor manufacturing units and hand over the keys to the Executive Magistrate (Mysuru DC).
Firearm owners asked to deposit weapons: With the Model Code of Conduct in force from Mar. 16 to June 6, the DC has banned people from carrying of any type of weapons, explosives and lethal weapons in the district on the above said period.
This rule will not apply to those who had submitted applications seeking exemption and approved by the Screening Committee.
The DC has ordered all licensed weapon holders to deposit their weapons at their jurisdictional Police Stations and comply with the order.
Jatras, fairs on Apr. 26 postponed: To ensure smooth conduct of voting and ensure voters turnout on Apr. 26, the day of voting, the DC has postponed all jatras and fairs in the district which were to be held on that day, according to a press release.
