Mysore/Mysuru: In what can be called as a quirk of fate, a 23-year-old youth from Nanjangud, who was suffering from infectious gangrene, died on his birthday on Thursday, reportedly due to COVID-19.
The youth, a resident of Basavanagudi extension in Nanjangud town, was suffering from severe diabetes and was admitted to a Private Hospital in Mysuru a few days ago.
As he was diagnosed for gangrene, the doctors at the Hospital amputated one of his legs. But despite the treatment, the youth died late on Thursday night, following which his throat swab sample was sent to the Lab for COVID-19 test.
The Lab report, which was out on Friday, said that the deceased youth had tested positive for the virus, following which the Nanjangud taluk administration performed his last rites as per COVID-19 protocol, according to Taluk Health Officer Dr.Nagendra.
