Mysuru: Stating that there were objections for bringing Fine Arts under Music University, KSGH Music and Performing Arts University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Sarvamangala Shankar said that she would make efforts for promoting Fine Arts, within her limits.

She was speaking after inaugurating ‘Ganesha Sambhrama,’ a three-day traditional and digital paintings expo of artist and graphic designer Pratyasha Nithin, at Bharani Art Gallery in Vivekanandanagar here yesterday.

Pointing out that this is Pratyasha’s first solo exhibition of paintings arranged in Mysuru, Dr. Sarvamangala lauded Pratyasha for creating traditional paintings of Hindu deities based on their dhyana mantras available in various Hindu texts.

Senior theatrist Rajashekar Kadamba, journalist Amshi Prasannakumar, senior artist N.B. Kaverappa, Mysuru Art Gallery Founder and sculptor L. Shivalingappa, Secretary Dr. Jamuna Rani Mirle and others were present.

The expo will be open between 11 am and 7 pm till tomorrow.

Though this is her first solo exhibition,  Pratyasha has previously displayed her art works in Mysuru Dasara Exhibition and has also designed covers of books ‘Musings on Hinduism’ and ‘Sri Dakshinamurthy: Guru, Ishwara and Atman.’ She has also participated in Chitra Santhe and been a part of Chitraveda (illustration of Rigveda Samhita Patha).
