May 27, 2019

Mysuru: Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) has provided an opportunity for in-house students of 2011-12 and 2012-13 academic year to appear for the examinations, said KSOU Vice-Chancellor Prof. D. Shivalingaiah.

Addressing a press conference here this morning at the Meeting Hall of KSOU, he said that the University has taken a decision to permit the students of B.A/B.Com, who have been admitted during the academic year 2011-12 and 2012-13 and failed in the examinations and also who could not appear for the examinations, to appear for the ensuing examinations in accordance with the University Rules then prevailing and also as per the Government orders.

Therefore, the in-house students of B.A/B.Com, who have been admitted during the academic year 2011-12 are provided one more opportunity and the in-house students of B.A/B.Com who have been admitted during the academic year 2012-13 are provided two opportunities to appear for the ensuing examinations, he said and added that a Notification in this regard will be announced within two or three days.

Strictly following the new UGC guidelines, there are a few changes effected from this academic year. Earlier, if a student was doing a three-year course, he or she would get six years to complete the course and if it is four years, double the time was given, he said.

Now according to the new rules called N+2 (number of years of the courses plus two years) , the students will have just two years extra to pass the exams and not like earlier where it was the double the period equivalent to the course, said Prof. Shivalingaiah.
