Mysuru:“Countries which have invested heavily on Science and Research have earned Global recognition. India can attain a higher speed of growth if researchers and scientists are given more prominence”, said CSIR-CIMAP (Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants), Bengaluru Scientist Dinesh A. Nagegowda.
He was speaking after inaugurating the National Science Day organised by the Physics Department of KSOU in association with IQAC(Internal Quality Assurance Cell) at Cauvery auditorium in Mukthagangothri campus here recently.
“Plans must be evolved for attracting youth towards Science. It is unfortunate that many in the country do not know why the National Science Day is celebrated. Sir C.V. Raman got the Nobel Prize when the British ruled Country. But it is a paradox that no Indian Scientist has got this prestigious Prize in Science in the pro-independence era. It must be understood that scientific innovations and discoveries are a preface for realising the Prime Minister’s dream of ‘Viksit Bharat’ concept. In this backdrop, efforts must be made for attracting Youth towards science and more measures must be taken for encouraging research”, Dinesh Nagegowda said.
He also released ‘Life of Science Newsletter’ brought out by the KSOU on the occasion.
KSOU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sharanappa V. Halase, Registrar Prof. K.B. Praveen, Finance Officer Prof. S. Niranjan, Science Section Director Suneetha, Head of the Department of Physics S.V. Niranjan, Dr. Syed Baker and others were present.
